PREVENT DAMAGE – RECORD HANDLING AND SHIPPING HISTORY
(news for immediate release from aimarket - February 2000)
A valuable shipment need not travel alone according to the manufacturer of this device. Shockwatch™ SHOCKLOG is an advanced way to know what happened to your valuable shipment between shipping point and destination. The improved model can record a 500 day history of damaging shocks, temperature changes, humidity and atmospheric pressure.
SHOCKLOG is a recorder of handling details for large, valuable shipments and it is also useful in a diagnostic role for the handling and packaging environment. The sophisticated instrument is offered as a good investment for large, delicate/high value, “container class” shipments as well as the likes of: aerospace and communications equipment, nuclear & fossil fuel industry equipment, museums and art galleries, wafer fabrication, optical equipment, etc. While its overall capacity is not warranted for every shipment, its analytical capabilities make it the ideal precursor or diagnostic tool for the future application of a wide range of low cost, “one trip, label-type shipping damage indicators”, also available from Shockwatch™.
SHOCKLOG is a battery operated, ‘record to memory’ capable, electric accelerometer with optional sensors. SHOCKLOG features (3)built-in accelerometers, velocity or acceleration measurements, a built-in temperature sensor, date and time stamping, adjustable warning and alarm thresholds, 12 month battery life and the capability to receive information from remote/external sensors through two external inputs. The device will operate over a temperature range of –40 to +85 °C. Collected data is downloaded to a PC via a built-in RS-232 serial interface at baud rate up to57600.
The SHOCKLOG includes free software (for Windows 95/98/2000/NT4 operating systems) that allows the operator to configure the instrument, extract, examine and interpret data records collected. Reports and graphs may be viewed on screen, printed out or exported to other applications. Five different report modes are available with the standard software package: summary data, events summary, event details, time slot data and log data. The software features a unique single screen report that allows all key data from a journey or test to be viewed, stored or e-mailed as a single sheet.
