LIVE CENTERS FOR HIGH PRODUCTION RATE MACHINE AUTOMATION

(news for immediate release from aimarket, august 17, 1998)

The 9000 series of live centers is being introduced by Piper Tools. This patented new line of lathe accessories was conceived and designed for high speed, high production rate, NC and CNC applications.

Piper Tool's patented new 9000 series of lathe live centers features: *** Spindle nose cone and bearing designed for the shock and impact of modern, high speed lathes. *** Close access profile allows machining small diameters in tight proximity to live center's spindle. *** Nose made from 3.5% nickel-chrome steel, case hardened to 63 RC. *** Bearings - high speed type, opposed angular contact , races manufactured from forge 45% C steel (55 TSI).

Series 9000 load recommendations are based on speeds between 2,500 and 10,000 RPM. Spindle bearings have a rated speed of 16,000 RPM. Runout accuracy is less than .0001" and the live centers run on a special, permanent ESP lubricant.

Piper Tools founder, Richard Piper, invented the world's first live center in 1936. Piper Tools has been at the forefront of live center design and manufacturing for 60 years. Today, they are world leaders in machine tooling technology, manufacturing live centers, tapping heads, countersinks, deburring tools and other accessories.
