 Aimarket Case History Articles

Case Histories: This story format varies from the news release publicity format in several ways. The case study tells how your product or service solved a particular user's problem (your customer). The story refers to that specific customer (usually by name) and you must obtain permission for the story. AIMARKET publicity professionals will assist you in obtaining such permission from customers or end users. Case studies (typically 500-1000 words) are usually a bit longer than news release (200-300 words) publicity format. They are normally committed to one editor's publication on an exclusive basis for an agreed period. Most editors want a good story on an exclusive basis (among their industry competitors). They usually will have no problem with the story appearing in a substantially diverse publication with little or no crossover readership. Most stories can appear in 3-4 magazines (at least) over a one year period. Case histories are also sometimes referred to as "testimonials." We are particularly adept at writing case history and technical feature stories that are well-received by editors and their readership. Our experience includes many years of engineering and industrial sales/marketing management.

Handout sheets: In addition to the widespread potential for publishing in trade or professional periodicals, many of our clients like to have their story made available as a handout sheet. These handouts serve as a valuable and effective piece of sales literature at low cost. They may be prepared and acquired from AIMARKET or purchased from trade publications as reprints.

Themes: Many case history themes are based on the successful application of products, systems, machines and/or technical services such as engineered solutions to problems. These stories may be selected for publication in engineering and production magazines or specialized technical journals. All problems are not of an engineering or technical nature, so all case histories are not about technology. Business magazine editors are interested in case history stories about problems and solutions in such areas as: accounting, employee relations, finance, marketing, product distribution, safety, transportation and distribution.

Results: Case studies are effective in establishing your product's "performance credibility." 'They typically produce fewer reader responses than new product news releases but, a higher percentage of those responses will truly be serious, qualified sales leads. The great power of association goes to work for you if you just solved a problem for a known company. Someone with a similar problem to solve will obviously have a high level of potential buyer interest.

What is it? What is the general structure?

A complete case history is a story comprised of:

· A lead - introduction to a problem looking for a solution

· A description - in detail

· Analysis by the principals (the heroes)

· Alternative ideas for solutions considered or attempts

· The final solution chosen and how it was administered

· A happy ending
