Automatic Weld Restores Worn I.D. Bore of Cylindrical Parts
A
new system for weld overlaying or restorative buildup of the inside of pipes,
tubes, nozzles and nearly any cylindrical work pieces is being introduced.
BoreClad is the name of the innovative system from Bortech Corporation of Keene,
N.H.
BoreClad was conceived for applications in
restoring worn construction, industrial and military equipment, pit, quarry and
mining processes, and diverse other parts needing rebuilding due to abrasive
wear {or corrosion from caustic chemicals, slurries or steam).
The BoreClad system uses MIG, Solid or Flux core
(.023 to .045 wire) weld processes in conjunction with Bortech’s proven,
patented step method to position weld beads inside round components.
It rotates the work piece while maintaining the optimal torch angle for
bead quality and deposition rate. The system offers the option of programmable
weld/no weld zones to accommodate keyways, etc. BoreClad provides a drastic weld
time reduction – it can lay over five pounds of metal per hour, while
maintaining better quality than hand welding. The system can weld mild steel,
and all stainless steel and nickel alloys (Monel, Inconel, etc).
The standard model machine has a current
capacity of 200 amps at 100% duty cycle. Standard
torches work within ID’s of 1.2” up to 13.”
Maximum size range and piece wt. capacity for standard models are
15”OD, 48”lg and 300lbs wt. Boretech
also manufactures custom overlay machines for larger workpieces.
BoreClad was conceived for applications in oil and
gas field production, worn construction and military equipment, pit, quarry and
mining processes, and diverse other parts needing rebuilding due to abrasive
wear or corrosion from caustic chemicals, slurries or steam.
Bortech Corporation is located in Keene, NH, and
has been building automated MIG welding systems for over 15 years.
Bortech’s equipment is in use at over 1500 locations worldwide to
restore bores, pins and shafts in the heavy equipment, oil & gas, power
generation, ship building, mining and process manufacturing industries.
